Kindergarten Classes: Kindergarten classes are not offered at this time
Full Day 8:00-2:30
Half Day 10:00-2:30
Children are immersed in a literacy-rich environment to promote the love of reading! Children are taught word parts or phonemes and sight words using weekly take home books. Through literature, poems, charts and their own writing, children use taught strategies to decode new words and find the purpose and pleasure of reading. Books are available for all levels and interests.
Writing techniques are taught to help children use their knowledge of sounds to express their ideas and communicate on paper.
We use a hands on approach to math that includes many strategies for solving and understanding math problems and developing a strong sense of numbers. Children will explore geometry, parts and wholes, patterns and measurements. By using "real things" children will see the purpose of math, from weighing, measuring and estimating, to recording information on charts and graphs.
Science will be taught by investigating the world around them: changing seasons, matter and mass, how things work, researching animals and habitats and learning about their health. We study the Earth, Dinosaurs, Energy and Force, Electricity and more.
Social Studies topics will help children understand and appreciate who they are, and help them understand different cultures and communities. We study: Native Americans, Pilgrims, China, Holidays Around the World, Africa, Black History, Women's HIstory, Mexico, Families and Immigration and more.
Children participate in L.E.A.P, Spanish and have Bible class three days each week.
